Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of trouble owing to scattering or the like of molten metal splash by inserting a chiller coated with graphite into the molten metal in a sprue part, and solidifying the molten metal forcibly. CONSTITUTION:After molten metal 4 is charged into the cavity part 3 of registered dies 1 consisting of a left die 2 and a right die 2a, a cylinder 9 is forced out and operated to insert a chiller dipped in a graphite coating soln. 13 so as to prohibit melt-sticking of the molten metal into a sprue part 3a, thereby increasing the cooling rate of the molten metal 4 in the part 3a. At the point of the time when the molten metal begins to solidify, the cylinder 9 is operated reverse to draw the chiller 10 from the part 3a; at the same time, an opening and closing cylinder not shown is operated to open the dies 1 to right and left, and the casting is removed.
