Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber bundle whose optical coupling efficiency is high, by removing plastic clad of a terminal of an optical fiber bundle, and raising an area occupancy rate of a core. CONSTITUTION:A clad layer of a terminal part of a fiber bundle consisting of a glass core 3 and plastic clad 2 is removed once, and the part consisting of only cores 3 for propagating a light beam are collected to have a close-packed structure. Subsequently, said cores are covered again with the same plastics or a substance 2 having a similar optical quality, and a coupling area is formed. Its circumference is covered with a buffer layer 4.
