CONSTITUTION:The difference DELTAP between the internal and external pressures of a vessel to be measured in which a membrane is housed is applied to said vessel, and the change of said pressure difference with time is measured. From the value thereof, the intensity of the gas leakage of the vessel is detected. Also, various different leak holes such as hole structures of membranes and hole structures of sealing parts are formed discretely in plural vessels in which membranes are housed, and the respective changes of the pressure differences applied to each of the vessels with time are measured, and from the values thereof, the plural correlation constants (n) for decision corresponding to various kinds of the leak holes are beforehand calculated and set based on the pressure difference-time change relation-dDELTAP/dtproportional (DELTAP)<n>. The correlation constant (n) obtained from the time change of the pressure difference measured with the vessel to be measured is collated with the correlation contants (n) for decision, and from the corresponding correlation constant (n), the kind of the gas leakage of the vessel to be measured is discriminated.
