PURPOSE:To indicate coordinate positions on display screens of plural display monitors by one light pen, by discriminating coordinates on the display screen, which are indicated by the light pen, and a corresponding display monitor. CONSTITUTION:When the operator presses a light pen 109 onto the display screen of a CRT monitor 101 in a CRT display device 141, a switch-on signal SWON is generated and is transferred to a microprocessor 11. The microprocessor 11 inhibits display information of a refresh memory 102 and displays a detecting pattern on the CRT monitor. When the light pen 109 is pressed onto the CRT monitor in a CRT display device 142, the microprocessor 11 inhibits all screen display in the CRT display device 142 while the detection command of the light pen operation in the CRT display device 141 is given. Consequently, display monitors are discriminated easily.
