Abstract

PURPOSE: To unify a calmping force for a cylinder head by providing machine bolts or stud bolts of a greater heat expansion coefficient on the side of exhaust holes selected out of machine bolts or stud bolts which clamp a cylinder head to a cylinder block.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder head 3 provided with intake air holes 5 and exhaust air holes 6 through a gasket 2 is placed on the upper part of a cylinder block 1. The cylinder head 3 is clamped to the cylinder block 1 with either machine bolts or stud bolts 4. The machine bolts or stud bolts placed on the exhaust hole side are made of austenitic steel having a thermal expansion coefficient greater than those on the intake air side. With this constitution, the thermal expansion of the cylinder haed 3 can be adsorbed on the exhaust air side having greater thermal load and a unified clamping force is provided, which makes it possible to reduce the load of gasket 2.
