Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the weight of a body precisely by fixing the 1st and 2nd sphere bearing members opposite load cell units and holding steel balls between both the bearing members and the 3rd sphere bearing member. CONSTITUTION:As a mounting board 4 moves, steel balls 14 roll over a slip to apply lateral load to load cell units 6A and 6B through the recessed surfaces of the 3rd sphere bearing members 12, but the majority of the lateral load is escaped through the relative movement of the mounting board 4 over the units 6A and 6B. Since the lateral load is not applied to the units 6A and 6B uniformly at any time, lateral loads on the units 6A and 6B at positions which correspond to the 1st and 2nd sphere bearing members 13 and 15 are reduced corresponding to the curvature of a surface in contact with the steel ball 14. Specially, in the unit 6B, the surface of the sphere bearing member 15 which comes in contact with the steel ball 14 is plane, so the lateral load is escaped nearly ideally. The point of loading on the load cell seldom moves, so that a truck is weighed with extremely high accuracy.
