Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled material, prepared by forming many continuous recesses and cracks of specific depth in the fibrous axial direction, having a specified size and improved durability, water retaining property, flexibility and anti-fouling and algal inhibitory processing properties and high strength, and useful for laver sheet nets, etc.
CONSTITUTION: Nylon 6 is spun through a spinneret having a modified cross section, and the extruded fibers are passed through a cooling bath, cooled and then passed through a heated water bath, drawn and wound. The resultant fibers are doubled and twisted. Several twisted yarns 11 are doubled and subjected to the first twist to give the aimed textile material consisting of hydrophobic monofilaments 5 having 4 or more continuous recesses and/or cracks having a depth of at least 10μ in the fibrous axial direction and a size of 100W1,500 deniers. A processing agent 13, e.g. an anti-fouling and algal inhibitory agent, firmly adheres to the recesses and/or cracks simply by subjecting the resultant material to the anti-fouling and algal inhibitory treatment.
