Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare the titled glass simply and quickly, by heating a glass- forming raw material and a dopant forming raw material to synthesize glass fine powder, piling the powder on a target, collecting and heating it. CONSTITUTION:SiCl4 and GeCl in the bath 2 glass-forming raw material and the bath 3 of dopant forming raw material respectively are made in a gaseous state, and they are subjected to flame hydrolysis by the flame 7 fed from the oxyhydrogen flame 4. The prepared glass fine powder 8 is piled concentrically on the target 9 kept at 400-900 deg.C. The fine powder 8 is continuously scraped off by the wiper 10, accumulated in the container 11, and dropped into the oxyhydrogen flame 13 by the action of te ultrasonic vibrator 12. The dropped fine powder 8 is heated at >=2,000 deg.C by the flame 7, melted completely, and the doped silica glass 1 in a transparent glassy state is grown on the top of a seed rod.
