Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the change in the thickness of a cavity and improve the dimensional resistance of a plastic lens, by a method wherein a cavity is sealed by using a sealing film, and the gap between molds is maintained by using gap supporting members. CONSTITUTION:Two disk-shaped molds 1 and 2 are arranged so that the surfaces 3 and 4 to form the surfaces of a plastic lens face to each other. Gap supporting members 5 are inserted to maintain the distance between the two surfaces 3 and 4 at a given value. A sealing tape 6 such as an adhesive tape is wound around the sides of the two molds 1 and 2 to contact them closely to each other and to seal a cavity 7. After a plastic material has hardened, the molds 1 and 2 and the sealing film 6 are removed. Moreover, after the gap supporting members 5 have been removed from the molded object, the peripheral part of the molded object is removed to obtain a plastic lens.
