Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a quenching apparatus for a molten polymer sheet, which has means to move a discharge electrode in the direction appoximately parallel to the circumferential surface of a cooling roll and in the direction perpendicular thereto independently of each other and can move the discharge electrode to a desired position, with the potential gradient maintained to be constant, sithout the need for a high degree of skill. CONSTITUTION:A sliding member 12 is mounted on a monorail 13 having a surface approximately parallel to the circumference 11 of a roll, a holder 14 is provided with a discharge electrode 18, and a spring 15 is inserted and secured between the sliding member 12 and a frame. By using a height-regulating screw 17 to regulate the distance between the discharge electrode 18 and the roll surface 11, the discharge electrode 18 is set at a desired position in the diametrical direction of the roll. Then, by using a regulating sctew 16 for the regulation in the flowing direction of film, the sliding member 12 is moved along the monorail 13, in approximetely parallel to the roll circumferential surface.
