Abstract
PURPOSE: To lower the hydrostatic head in a rising pipe for a slurry conveyance pipe at the discharge side of an eductor, by blowing fine air bubbles into the lower part of the rising pipe to mix the air into the fluid in the rising pipe to lower the specific gravity of the fluid therein.
CONSTITUTION: Pressurized water is supplied from jet nozzles 18 to coal in a coal vessel 1 to make slurry of high concentration. The slurry is discharged into a slurry conveyance pipe 5 together with driving water from an eductor driving water pipe 4 so that the slurry goes up in a rising pipe 7 in a coal storage section 2. The slurry is conducted to a discharge box 11. Compressed air is introduced from an air pipe 9 into the lower part of the rising pipe 7. Fine air bubbles are mixed into the slurry by a fine air bubble generator 20. Since the slurry is mixed with the fine air bubbles, the specific gravity of the slurry is lowered and the hydrostatic head in the rising pipe 7 is reduced.
