Abstract

PURPOSE: An adsorbent containing ethanol is contained together with a food product in a tightly sealable package, after the oxygen concentration in the package is made lower than that in the air to permit the storage of the food product for a long period of time.
CONSTITUTION: Ethanol or a beverage containing ethanol such as brandy, whisky or SAKE is adsorbed on an adsorbent such as silicic anhydride, silicic hydrate, synthetic zeolite or molecular sieve. The resultant adsorbent, an oxygen remover, an oxygen-removing and carbon dioxide-evolving agent such as hydrosulfite, iron dust or L-ascorbic acid are placed together with the food product in the package and tightly sealed.
