Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain high sealing performance for long term, by constituting a semicircular packing formed approximately in same shape with the work hole of the cylinder head for sealing the work hole with the metal section and the resilient section provided above while making the ear section at both ends of the resilient section thick.
CONSTITUTION: A semicircular packing is equipped with a semicircular metal section 1 slightly smaller than the work hole 3a of the cylinder head 3 while the ear section is notched, where a groove 1a is made in the surface of said semicircular section while a flange section 1b for holding the cylinder head 3 is provided at both sides in the direction of the depth. A resilient section 2 made of rubber is adhered by vulcanizing above said metal section 1, where a thick section 2a is formed at the ear section at both ends of said resilient section 2 while a thin section 2b is formed between both thick section 2a. Said resilient section 2 is slightly projected above the seal face 4. The packing constructed in such a manner is fitted in said work hole 3a then a cylinder head cover 6 is applied through a gasket 5.
