Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent precipitation of physically developed silver, by adding a specified nitrogen-containing heterocyclic quaternary salt to an image receptive layer. CONSTITUTION:An image receptive layer contains at least one of quaternary salts represented by the general formula in which R1 is H or a group defined by R2 or R3; R2, R3 are alkyl, alkenyl, or alkynyl; Z is an atomic group needed to form an optionally substituted imidazoline or tetrahydropyrimidine ring; and X<-> is an anion. Its suitable amount used is 1-100mg/m<2>, and varies in accordance with the kinds of quaternary salts. Use of potassium bromide, 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole, or the like development inhibitor does not cause drop of transfer speed and photographic characteristics.
