Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a commercial power supply as well as to dispense with a protective circuit by a method wherein the capacity of a smoothing capacitor is reduced, an auxiliary power supply is provided, and power is fed from the auxiliary power supply when the commercial AC input voltage is low. CONSTITUTION:A capacitor of small capacity is connected to the output terminal of the circuit 5 which rectifies the commercial AC input 4. An auxiliary power supply circuit is consisted of a diode D2, an inductance L and a capacitor C2. A DC-DC converter is consisted of a main transformer T, a transistor TR, a rectifying and smoothing circuit 2' and a pulse width controlling circuit 6. And, during the period when the voltage between both terminals of the capacitor C1 is low in accordance with an input waveform, the diode D1 is turned to conductive and power is fed from the capacitor C2 of the auxiliary powder supply circuit, and the capacitor C2 is charged while the voltage between both terminals is stabilized. Also, the capacitor C2 is charged while the voltage between both terminals of the capacitor C1 is high.
