Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve usability with Ni-Zn ferrite, superb workability and resistance in wear of a ceramic for magnetic head by a method wherein the material is composed of TiO2, BaO, ZrO2 and Al2O3 in specific ratios and its thermal expansion coefficient is within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic is formed by baking or hot press molding with hydrostatic press of a composite material of 64-69% TiO2, 19.5-21% BaO, 5.4-5.8% ZrO2 and 4-11% Al2O3 in terms of a weight, gaining its thermal expansion coefficient within the range of 90-94X10<-7>/ deg.C. The reason for limiting each amount of components of TiO2-BaO-ZrO2 composition in such a way is that its thermal expansion coefficient is made equivalent to that of Ni-Zn ferrite. With this composition, this ceramic can be glass-welded with a head core made of Ni-Zn ferrite.
