Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive economizations in power consumption of a fixing roller, by supplying the heat of the fixing roller to a pressure roller if required for an electrophotographic copying machine. CONSTITUTION:A heater 3 is installed to a fixing roller 2 of fixing apparatus 1, and the heat of the roller 2 is supplied to a pressure roller 4. The roller 2 starts working when the temperature becomes higher than the softening point of the toner, and the temperature supply is continued until the temperature of the roller 4 reaches a level at which the fixing can be performed. Thus, it is arranged that a prescribed fixability can be obtained even from the first copy. In this case, the control system is constituted in such a way that the temperature of the fixing roller 2 is compared through combinations of resistances R1-R5 connected to the input of comparators C1-C3 with the resistance value of one piece of thermistor TH(5) contacting with the roller 2.
