Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sheet of a high expansion ratio, fine foams and good quality by a method wherein styrene resin containing inflating agent of a specific ratio is expanded and extruded by a foaming extruder provided with a specific barrel and a screw of a specific compression ratio, under a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:In order to perform foam extrusion molding of styrene resin which is mixed with inflating agent of 3.0-5.0% by weight to styrene resin when converted by butane and nucleus raising agent, a foam extruder is used which is provided with a screw 4 having a slot volume of compression ratios 1.0-2.0 to a barrel 1 which becomes gradually smaller is slot depth toward the barrel front and is provided with a plurality of slots having solt distances C 5.0- 50mm., slot widths D 3.0-30mm., max. slot depths E 0.5-5.0mm. in the straight form to the extruding direction over a length of (slot length A)/(barrel's internal diameter B)=1.0-4.0 in the feed zone only of the barrel 1 of the extruder. Hightly expandable foams of good quality can be produced industrially and profitably.
