Abstract

PURPOSE:To extremely reduce the consumption of a battery which functions as a power supply, by preserving the contents of a memory which stores temporarily the input data even after a power supply switch is turned off. CONSTITUTION:A power supply switch 7 is put into a main power supply line P1 leading to a power supply 6 and an acoustic coupler 1, a printer 4, a magnetic reader/writer 5, a key board 2 and a display device 3 plus a control circuit 8 that controls these above-mentioned units. A memory 9 for storage during the data which is provided to the circuit 8 is connected to the power supply 6 via a power supply line P2 for memory which does not pass through the switch 7. The ON/OFF state of an interruption switch 10 that directs the preservation of the contents of the memory 9 is detected at the side of the circuit 8 through an interruption signal line l. The power is supplied to the memory 9 from the power source 6 even after the switch 7 is turned off. Thus the contents of the memory 9 is preserved.
