Abstract

PURPOSE: A rubber composition with good impact resilience and excellent crack propagation resistance and cut resistance even in a high strain region, which is prepd. by compounding a rubber with carbon black and short fiber of an alkali metal titanate single crystal coated with a thermoplastic resin.
CONSTITUTION: A rubber composition prepd. by compounding 100pts.wt. natural an/or synthetic rubber with 4W40pts.wt. short fiber of an alkali metal titanate single crystal of average particle size 0.05W0.8μm and average length 5W50μm and carbon black such as one of iodine adsorption IA 40W140mg/g and dibutyl phthalate absorption DBP 90W140ml/100g in wt. 1W14 times as much as said short fiber. Said fiber used is coated with a thermoplastic resin such as isotactic polypropylene or polyvinylidene chloride or m.p. 150W250°C. Thus the composition obtd. has good impact resilience and is excellent in crack propagation resistance and cut resistance.
