Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent burr of tips by rolling and produce a ring gear having teeth of high strength by working a ringlike blank material of a large diameter and a small wire diameter by the combination of forging and rolling. CONSTITUTION:A ringlike blank material 1 is subjected to high-frequency induction heating and is set in forging dies, thence it is forged by lowering a punch, whereby a slope 20 of which the thickness in the axial line direction gradually decreases toward the side face in the axial line direction, projecting parts 18 which bulge by assuming roundness in a free shape toward the outside diametral direction on the outside circumference and the bottom parts 19 between these are formed. The preformed blank material 17 forged in this way is mounted in a gear rolling device. At this time the parts 18 of the material 17 conform to the number of teeth and pitches of the finished teeth and the diameter of the projecting parts is performed to a size larger than the addendum circle D of a gear rolling tool 2; hence, it is mounted in the state that it is meshed with the tooth profiles of the tool 2.
