Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled releasing tube, prepared by filling a sex pheromone substance capable of controlling injurious insects, e.g. diamondback moth, into a thin-wall capillary made of a polyolefin plastic containing a specific amount of an ultraviolet light absorber, and capable of releasing the substance in a constant amount slowly for a long term.
CONSTITUTION: A polyolefin resin is mixed with 0.1W50wt% ultraviolet light absorber, and the resultant mixture is then molded into a capillary having a wall thickness of 0.1W1.0mm by the conventional extrding and molding method. A sex pheromone substance, e.g. Z-11-hexadecenal, is injected into the capillary under reduced pressure, and both ends are heat-sealed to give the aimed releasing tube. The releasing rate from the releasing tube is almost constant for a long term, and the sex pheromone in the capillary will scarcely remain without evaporation. The total amount thereof will be released to the atmosphere. The polyolefin is a highly stable material inert to the sex pheromone substance and corrosion resistant without deterioration even by exposure to the weather for a long term.
