Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of width changing work and prolong the life of a mold by providing scrapers and water sprayers for removing the stuck materials on the surfaces of long side molds. CONSTITUTION:Scrapers 6 are mounted to both end edges of cooling boxes 4, 4' provided on the back of respective short side molds 3, 3'. When the molds 3, 3' are moved, the scrapers 6 slide on the surfaces of long side molds 1, 1', thereby cleaning these surfaces. Water sprayers 7, 7' are mounted on the top surfaces of the boxes 4, 4' provided on the back of the molds 3, 3', and move in accordance with the movement of the molds 3, 3'. Hence, they spray water toward the surfaces (the surfaces on the side backer than the molds 3, 3') of the molds 1, 1' and spray water to substantially all the surfaces of the exposed surfaces of the molds 1, 1' when the molds 3, 3' are in any positions. Thereby, the removal of the foreign matter stuck on the mold surfaces is executed in a short time.
