Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase a mechanical variance and a mechanical energy considerably, by making the thickness of piezoelectric elements different in the forward side of the reverse side of polarization. CONSTITUTION:When the thickness of a piezoelectric element 11 is h1, the thickness of other piezoelectric element 12 is h2h1=nh2(0<n<1). IN this electrostrictive vibrator 13, when an electric field Ep due to a power source V is applied to the reverse part of the element 12, the intensity of the electric field applied to the forward part of the element 11 becomes Ep/n. Consequently, the field applied to the element 11 is very larger than the field Ep applied to the element 12. Cosequently, when n=1/4 is true for PZT of Ep=200V/mm., the intensity of the field applied to the forward part of the element 11 becomes E=800V/mm., and thus, the field is applied up to the limit of the dielectric breakdown.
