Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of ink and antidry agent to the minimum necessary quantity, by providing a means detecting kind of liquids in liquid exhuast passage which is connected to a head part. CONSTITUTION:A detecting means 20 detecting the kind of liquids in a flow passage 16 is prepared immediately before a valve 17 in the passage 16 which is connected to a head part 7 in an ink supply system. For instance, the part of the flow passage 16 is constructed of a transparent glass tube, and a pair of sits 22, 23 are equiped on both side of said glass tube. On the outside of one slit plate 22, a light source 24 is set, and on the out side of another slit plate 24 a photoreceiving element 25 is set. As the penetration ratio of light into the ink is different from that of anti dry agent, the light quantity is changed corresponding to kinds and mixing ratio of liquids, thereby changing electrical output. Thus the kinds and mixing ratio of liquids which flow in the flow passage 16 may be detected by this detecting method. The valves 6, 15, 17 are alternately changed manually or automatically by this detecting signal, therefore, the consumption of ink and antidry agent may be decreased to a minimum necessary quantity.
