Abstract
PURPOSE:To record, reproduce, and erase information without giving a damage to a metallic film, by forming the metallic film, which reflects a beam, on a layer consisting of thermoplastic materials to control the intensity of an irradiated beam. CONSTITUTION:A high-reflexibility metallic film 6 of 3,000Angstrom consisting of Al is coated on a layer 7 which is formed on a substrate 8 and consists of thermoplastic materials such as acrylic resin. The beam of a laser beam source 1 is condensed onto a recording medium 5 by a half mirror 3 and an object lens 4. The intensity of the beam is so adjusted that information is recorded without deforming the layer 7 and damaging the metallic film 6. In case of reproducing, a weak beam is irradiated, and the reflection beam is detected through the half mirror 3 by a photodetector 2. In case of erasing, the intensity of the beam is so adjusted that the metallic film 6 is not damaged similarly.
