Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the operation of a watch by inputting numerals or characters by means of several sensors provided on the circumference of the top surface of a watch case. CONSTITUTION:Inputs from eight sensor input terminals A-H provided on the perimeter of a top glass of a watch are amplified and shaped with eight independent analog amplifiers 51-58 and then, memorized in FFs 61-68. A permutations and combinations discrimination circuit 71 checks the FFs 61-68 to determine from which sensor input terminals and in what order the inputs come and actuates a pattern generator 72 corresponding to numerals and forms of characters indentified. The generator 72 transmits form s of characters stored in a memory not illustrated to an indication circuit to effect a liquid crystal display. At the same time, the generator 72 outputs a bit record corresponding to each form of character and the combination of the bits are identified as the combination of characters, for example, ''SET'' or ''ALARM''. These signals are inputted into functional action circuit 75 to effect a corresponding action.
