Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent ink discharge holes from clogging during suspension of ink discharge by a method wherein ink jet heads arranged on different substrates are butted to each other through the respective surfaces which hold their ink jet discharge holes and mutual capping is conducted. CONSTITUTION:On the substrates 204, 205 are supported respectively ink jet heads 201, 202 having full line array type multiorifice 203. When the ink jet discharge moves into suspension the substrates 204, 205 are rotated in the direction of the arrow around the axial line L2 and the heads 201, 202 are butted tightly to each other on the orifice-holding surface so that mutual capping function is given to the heads.
