Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to change the capacity of a compressor in a continuous or infinite manner, by employing an arrangement capable of changing the axial length of an enclosed space formed by laps and flat plates of volute-shaped, fixed and turning scrolls which are held in engagement with each other. CONSTITUTION:An annular guide wall 25a is formed around the circumference of a frame 25 disposed at an upper part of a motor in an enclosed casing 1, in the manner that it is projected upward, and a flat plate part 27a of a fixed scroll 27 is disposed inside the guide wall 25a in an axially slidable manner. Further, a flat plate part 26a of a turing scroll 26 is mounted on the upper wall surface of the frame 25, and an eccentric shaft 24a serving as a driving shaft is inserted into a boss part 26c of the flat plate part 26a. Here, arrangement is such that the flat plate part 26a can be moved upward and downward by hydraulic pistons 35, 35 which are moved back and forth by hydraulic pressure and that the length of projection of laps 26d, 27b and an outer frame 29 can be vaied. Therefore, it is enabled to vary the axial length of an enclosed space defined between the two scrolls 26 and 27.
