Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the wave energy recovering efficiency of an apparatus which is intended to convert vertical motion of a float caused by waves into energy of rotational motion of eccentric rotary members in a rotation generator that is installed in the float, by controlling motions of the eccentric rotary members and the float to be in a particular relationship with each other.
CONSTITUTION: A wave-energy converting apparatus mounted on a float E comprises a pair of eccentric rotary members G, G' disposed symmetrically on the opposite sides of the major axis of the float E and a rotation generator K having turning shafts H, H' extended horizontally and in parallel with the major axis of the float E. A starting motor L is attached to the rotation generator K, so that the eccentric rotary members G, G' are rotated by the motor L at a frequency causing resonance with the vertical motion of the float E or at a frequency near the same. With such an arrangement, energy imparted to the eccentric rotary members G, G' by the vertical motion of the float E is transmitted to a generator N via an overdrive means M and converted into AC current. Then, the AC current is converted into DC current by an AC-DC converter Q and taken out via a cable R.
