Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a gelling agent composition permitting gelling uniformly over the entire part at ordinary temp. or low temp. by absorbing dibenzylidenesorbitol dissolved in an aprotic polar solvent or its nuclear substituted substance in an inorg. carrier.
CONSTITUTION: Dibenzylidenesorbitol or its nuclear substituted substance is dissolved at 15W25%, particularly 20W22%, in an aprotic polar solvent (e.g.; N-methyl- 2-pyrolidone). Thence, this soln. is absorbed in an inorg. carrier (e.g.; silica such as hydrous silicic acid, silicic acid anhydride), whereby the intended powdery gelling agent composition is obtd. The inorg. carrier of ≥25cc/g oil absorbing rates is adequately usable. Since this gelling agent composition causes gelation by dispersing in materials to be gelled, the gelation of materials which are heretofore considered difficult to gel is easy.
