Abstract
PURPOSE: To stably decompose malodorous components and to continuously keep the adsorbing activity of a medium, by bringing malodorous gas into contact with a layer packed with a granular medium under the existence of sufficient water and an aerobic circumstance.
CONSTITUTION: Malodorous gas containing ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, methyl sulfide, etc. is supplied, in a downward flow state, in a downward flow state, toward a layer 2 packed with a granular medium from a gas introducing port 3; and simultaneously, spraying water, from a spray nozzle 8, is introduced to flow in parallel to the gas. The supplied malodorous gas is deodorized by the action of water, oxygen and the granular medium, and the action of stuck bacteria synthetically; and the purified gas is discharged from a purified gas discharge pipe 9. circulating water creates an environment enough to keep the biological activities in the packed layer 2, and removes the produced-decomposed substances, accompanying the oxidation of the malodorous components, from the layer 2 by dissolving them. A part of the circulating water is discharged from a discharge pipe 6 in order not to obstruct the biological reaction by its concentration, the equal amount of water to that of decreased one is supplied from a make up pipe 10. Because the packed medium is biologically regenerated by the oxidation of the malodorous components, it can be used continuously.
