Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the magnitude and direction of torque easily and securely by detecting a vltage which corresponds to variations in capacity due to two electrodes of the 1st body of revolution applied with mutually antiphase signals and the electrode of the 2nd body of revolution coupled by a torsion spring. CONSTITUTION:When the 1st body 11 of revolution and 2nd body 14 of revolution twist to right through a torsion spring 26 corresponding to torque, the electrostatic capacity between the electrode 15 of the body 14 and one electrode 12 of the body 11 whose electrodes 12, 13 are applied with antiphase sine wave signal to each other becomes greater than that between the electrode 15 and electrode 13. When they twist to left, the same result is obtained, and consequently voltage having the magnitude corresponding to the torsion angle and the phase corresponding to the direction of the torsion is generated at the electrode 15. Then, the magnitude and direction of torque are detected easily and securely through the torsion spring on the basis of a torsion-direction discrimination signal obtained by a phase comparison between a reference signal and the DC voltage, corresponding to the torsion angle, from a peak value detector.
