Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled elastomer having an excellent temperature index, prepared by mixing a high-MW polyoxyalkylene polyol with a 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane/ alkylene oxide adduct and reacting the mixture with polymeric isocyanate.
CONSTITUTION: A high-MW polyoxyalkylene polyol, functionality 2W3, average MW2,000W8,000, is mixed with an adduct between 1mol of 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl- methane and about 2W6mol of alkylene oxide, e.g., ethylene oxide, in an equivalent ratio, A/B, of 1(ca. 5W25). Then, the resulting mixture is reacted with a polymeric isocyanate based on an aromatic polyisocyanate, e.g., tolylene diisocyanate, in an equivalent ratio, NCO/active hydrogen, of about 1.05W1.15 to obtain the purpose high-modulus urethane elastomer suitable for RIM.
