Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare L-lysine using a low-cost carbon source, in high efficiency, by culturing L-lysine-producing bacteria belonging to Nocardia genus together with lactic acid-producing bacteria belonging to Lactobacillus genus, etc., using a glucide assimilable with the lactic acid-producing bacteria as a carbon source.
CONSTITUTION: L-lysine-producing bacteria such as Nocardia alkanoglutinosa 223-59 (FERM-P No.3260) are cultured under acerobic conditions, in the coexist- ence of one or more microorganisms capable of producing lactic acid from a glucide under aerobic conditions and belonging to Lactobacillus genus, Streptococcus genus, Leuconostoc genus, Pediococcus genus, Bacillus genus, or Rhizopus genus, in a medium containing carbon source such as glucose, hydrolyzed starch, etc. which can be assimilated by the lactic acid-producing bacteria, and the accumulated L- lysine is separated from the medium.
