Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material having high sensitivity and forming an image nearer to black, by forming a light and heat sensitive layer consisting of leucotriarylmethane, a specified oxidant, a merocyanine dye, and an acid. CONSTITUTION:(A) One mole oxidizable leucoaminotriarylmethane; (B) 0.1- 10mol hexaarylbiimidazole absorbing 250-370nm ultraviolet rays and serving as an oxidant against the component (A); (C) 0.1-10mol merocyanine dye absobing visible wavelength light, and producing a reducing substance; (D) 1-10mol acid acceleration color development, such as hydrochloric acid; and (E) a binder are mixed and dissolved or dispersed in a solvent, coated on a substrate, dried at 30- 100 deg.C to form a recording material having a 1-50mum thick light and heat sensitive layer. This material is exposed to an imagewise visible light at 80-150 deg.C, and then uniformly exposed to ultraviolet rays to obtain a fixed image.
