Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a gas laser tube with higher reliability, by a method wherein one of a cathode is enlarged outward for obtaining resilience, and the cathode is made so as not to be subjected to a slide shift by pressing a glass vessel with the resilient force. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical cathode 9 is equal to a cylindrical vessel in their outer diameters practically, and contacts with the inner surface of the vessel without shifting in the radial direction. The axial length of the cathode is much shorter than the internal axial length of the glass vessel, thus it is easy to be slided and shifted by the force from the outside. To suppress the shift described above, one end of the cathode is enlarged and a flare 91 is attached. The diameter of the flare part is slightly larger than the internal diameter of the glass vessel, therefore, it can not return to the original position because of the pressure pressing the tube wall of the flare when the cathode is inserted into the glass vessel for sealing the laser tube. Thus, a gal laser tube with high reliability is obtained.
