Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain ferromagnetic metallic powder with superior fire resistance and stability by sticking boron trialkoxide and silicone oil or silicone varnish to the surface of ferromagnetic metallic powder.
CONSTITUTION: Ferromagnetic metallic powder of Fe, Co, an Fe-Co-Ni alloy or the like having ≤1μm length is wetted with or immersed in a soln. prepared by dissolving boron trialkoxide and silicone oil or silicone varnish in a suitable solvent, and after well sticking them to the powder, the solvent is evaporated. Thus, ferromagnetic metallic powder with superior handleability and shelf stability in air is obtd., and mass production and storage of the powder alone are enabled. Trimethyl borate or the like is used as said boron trialkoxide, and the prefered amount is 0.05W0.5atom as boron per one atom metal. The preferred amount of said silicone oil or varnish is 0.001W0.1atom as Si per one atom metal. Benzene, toluene or the like is used as the solvent.
