PURPOSE:To obtain the best color print, by adjusting the inputted quantity of light of a color printer through obtaining the density/area ration caused by the color mixing light and then compensating the exposure time of each primary color light bythe average intensity difference among the three primary color image beams. CONSTITUTION:A moving color film 3 is irradiated by a light source 1, and a scanned image of the film 3 caused by the mixed colors is formed to a linear scanner 8 through a lens 6. The density of this image is detected and stored in a memmory. On the base of the contents of storage, the density/area ration of the color mixing light is decided by a caluculating circuit, etc., and the incident quantity of light is adjusted via a diaphragm 17. Then a scanned image of each color of the film 3 received an adjustment of quantity of light is formed to linear scanners 20, 20' and 20'' respectively via a three-color separation mirror 19 plus three primary color filters 21, 21' and 21'' respectively. The exposure time of each primary color is compensated by the average intensity difference among the three primary colors.
