PURPOSE: To prepare a lactic dehydrogenase having a high degree of thermal stability, by cultivating a highly thermophilic bacterium belonging to the genus Thermus or a variant thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A highly thermophilic bacterium belonging to the genus Thermus or a variant thereof, e.g. Thermus caldophilus (FERM-P No.5723), is inoculated into a liquid culture medium and cultivated at 70W78°C under aerobic conditions, and the lactic dehydrogenase is then collected from the resultant culture.
