Abstract
PURPOSE: To aim at making the outer shape of an engine smaller by providing a jacket near the combustion chamber of a cylinder head and water-cooling the cylnder, and at the same time installing there a pump for supplying a coolant into the jacket and driving the pump with the valve driving cam mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: A coolant tank 7 and a trochoid shaped pump 8 are provided at the cylinder head 4 of an engine main body 1. The outlet channel 8b of the pump 8 is connected to the coolant channel 11 a on the inlet side of a radiator 9. The coolant is cooled through the radiator 9 and the cooled coolant is made to flow from the inlet channel 38 via the channel 11b to the lower face of the exhaust channel 16. From there the coolant ascends through the vertical hole 37, cooling the exhaust channel 36, and returns to the coolant tank 7 via a jacket 31, vertical hole 39 and the drain route 40, and from there the coolant is sucked into a pump 8. The main shaft of the pump 8 fits on the end of the exhaust cam shaft 22, and the pump 8 is driven by the rotation of the cam shaft 22.
