Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to correctly detect a misfire and an abnormal combustion by setting the flame sensitivity at the time of ignition to be higher than that for a combustion operation, in a flame detecting circuit utilizing the ion current of a flame. CONSTITUTION:Whether or not a fan heater is ignited is detected by a flame rod 27. In the begining stage of ignition, since the combustion flame is unstable and the flame rod 27 is not red hot, the ion current is small. To cope with this condition, the sensitivity for flame detection is enhanced so that the ignition can be securely confirmed. Although the flame is stable and the flame rod 27 becomes red hot to increase the ion current at the time of normal combustion, the current is reduced when an abnormal combustion occurs due to an insufficiency of air or the like. To detect the abnormal combustion securely, the detection sensitivity is set to be lower. The sentivity is automatically changed over by the lowering of the potential at the connecting point between a capacitor C4 and a resistor R15 which lowering is caused by the ion current arising from the ignition.
