Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a simple and easy load testing of a generator, by a method wherein an output voltage of a generator is converted into a high voltage to apply it between electrodes in water in a water tank, and an electric resistance of water is utilized. CONSTITUTION:A supporting member 5, made of an insulating material, is placed at an upper part of a water tank 1 containing water 2, such as fresh water, salt water, caustic soda, and a retainer plate 7, whereto electrodes 6A-6C are attached, is placed on the supporting member 5 to insert the electrodes into the water 2. A 3- phase generator 6C, driven from an engine 8, is increased in an output (200-400V) to 3,000-6,000V by a boosting transformer 4 to connect it to the electrodes 6A-6C. The frame of the generator 3 and the iron made tank 1 are earthed. Like this, water is used as a resistor, and a high voltage is applied, and this almost prevents the rise in water temperature and a change in an electric resistance, and permits the stable application of a large capacity of a load for a long period of time.
