Abstract

PURPOSE: To aim at increasing mechanical energy in use of restoring force of sprins when the springs are released, by engaging the springs extending from a fixed shaft with crank pins of a crank so as to apply resilient energy, due to rotating force of the crank, to the springs.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of springs 7 having the same characteristics are extended to a pair of crank pins 4, respectively, of a crank from a fixed shaft 6 spaced at a predetermined distance to the crank 1. Thereby, when the spring engaging one of the pins 4 which is in 0 degree position, is under no load condition, the other spring 7 engaging with the other pin 4 which is in the top dead center portion of the crank, is stretched to a length twice as long as the diameter of the crank. The spring 7 stores resilient energy corresponding to the deformation of itself. Since the stored energy is gradually released along with rotation of the crank, the restoring force of the spring 7 acts upon the crank pin 4. Therefore, the external force applied to the crank pin 4 to rotate the crank is one-half of the force which is necessary to deform one spring. While one spring releases the energy, the other spring is deformed, thereby the sum of absorbed energies of the pair of springs is always equal to that at the original position thereof.
