Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the scattering of burrs and improve the strength of a joined part by providing a butt surface and a projecting part corresponding to the butt surface and hole part of the 1st member to the 2nd member and further forming an annular groove on the outside circumference of the projecting part.
CONSTITUTION: The 1st member 10 and 2nd member 20 are opposed to each other and are chucked to a welding machine. Pressure welding thrust is applied to these and relative rotating motion is continued. Then, the 1st and 2nd butt surfaces 11, 21 as well as the parts near these attain the temp. at which plastic flowing occurs owing to friction heat, by which these are pressure-welded. At the same time, the relative motion of both members 10, 20 is stopped. At this time, the butt surfaces 11, 21 make solid phase joining, and part of molten metal or burrs flow into an annular groove 22a without scattering into a hole part 12, and this completes joining. However, the burrs to the outside are removed by machining.
