Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily adjust the roll crown with a simple mechanism, by installing blocks provided with pressure chambers respectively above and below upper and lower roll housings, by providing bending devices between upper and lower roll housings, and by synchronously actuating the pressure chambers and the bending devices. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic cylinder 8 is interposed between upper and lower roll housings 4, 4' at each of both lateral ends. At the backs of roll housings 4, 4', pressure chambers 6, 6' are provided and are tight sealed with cover plates 11, 11'; a pressure fluid is introduced from a pipe line 13 into pressure chambers 6, 6'; hereby, the bulging of the cover plates 11, 11' is adjusted. Said hydraulic cylinders 8 push off both ends of upper and lower roll housings 4, 4' which then receive a bending action, so that thereby the bulging of the middle zone of work rolls 1 is restrained; as a result, the roll crown is adjusted. By the present constitution, even if a backup roll 3 is a segmental type, the roll crown can be easily adjusted.
