Abstract

PURPOSE:To equalize the group delay distortion in a VSB forming circuit network with a basic wave band, by reducing the scale of circuit, through the insertion of an amplitude equalizer to a modulation circuit using a 90 deg. phase difference branching device and two balanced modulators. CONSTITUTION:A basic wave signal cos(2pift+theta0) from an input terminal 1 is applied to a 90 deg. phase difference branching device 3 through an amplitude equalizer 2. The amplitude equalizer 2 gives a contant loss at a frequency equal to the frequency width of a residual side wave band (VSB) or more, and a loss greater by 3dB than a constant loss at frequency zero is given. The phase difference theta between output 5 and 6 of the branching device 3 is in the relation of theta1-theta2. Each output is balanced and modulated at balance modulators 7, 8 with two carriers cos2pifct and cos2pifct having phase difference 90 deg.. a carrier band signal with VSB forming can be outputted from a terminal 12 by adding each modulated output at an adder 11.
