Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct an arched raster distortion by arranging a dipole magnet in parallel with the bottom of a screen to produce the correction field which is in parallel with the screen while crosses perpendicularly with the screen and has the strength gradually increases toward both sides of the screen. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent face 4 is formed at the front face side of a tube 3 of a flat tube while an electron beam 5 is projected in parallel with said face 4 from an electron gun. Said beam 5 is electromagnetically deflected in the horizontal direction by means of horizontal deflection coils 6a, 6b while electrostatically deflected in the vertical direction by means of vertical deflection electrodes 7a, 7b. A rod shapred dipole magnet 8 is arranged in the proximity of said coil 6a in parallel with the bottom 1a of the screen 1 to produce the correction field 9 having the parallel component with the screen reducing toward both sides of the screen 1. Consequently the arched distortion of the raster can be corrected.
