CONSTITUTION:A record is formed with plural data blocks on a recording medium, and the error caused in each data block is corrected and retransferred by a data transfer controller. In such controller, a transfer buffer and an error correcting buffer are used in common. Then a commonly used buffer 100 is divided, and the error correcting or reusable data block uses the 1st region 100a of the buffer 100. And the subsequent data block uses the 2nd region 100b to execute the transfer. The data within the region 100a is preserved, and this preserved data is corrected and transferred again when an error occurs.
