Abstract

PURPOSE:To follow the variance of a target, the position of an image in a scene, the size, and the direction with a high precision, by detecting coordinates of both ends of the upper side in respect to coefficients of correlation of a trapezoid and by using a value of their additive average as a tracking coordinate signal. CONSTITUTION:A digitized video signal has luminance signals extracted in horizontal and vertical directions independently by a region dividing circuit 7, and they are converted to one-dimensional signal and are stored in memories 10A and 10B as 1-bit one-dimensional luminance signals in horizontal and vertical directions. These luminance signals are used as reference signals, and luminance signals obtained for the next picture similarly are used as signals to be correlated, and coefficients of correlation are operated by correlating circuits 11A and 11B. Coefficient signals obtained by this operation are supplied to comparing operators 12 and 13, and coordinate signals which make detection signals maximum are detected and are fed back to the circuit 7 as tracking coordinate signals after additive average to move positions of correlation windows independently.
